Frequently asked questions

We know navigating care can come with a lot of questions. Here you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about care options, advocacy, wellness visits, non-medical support, and how Good Neighbor Senior Advocates can help.

How do I know which care option is right for me or my loved one?

We research care options based on individual needs, preferences, location, services offered, insurance, accommodations, and other important factors. We then present carefully selected options so you can compare them and make an informed decision

Can Good Neighbor help if I live out of town?

Yes. We can serve as trusted eyes and ears when you cannot be there in person through wellness visits, family updates, and ongoing advocacy.

How will I know how my loved one is doing?

When wellness visits are part of your service, we provide updates following visits so you can stay informed about your loved one's overall well-being and any relevant observations.

Do you provide medical care?

No. Good Neighbor Senior Advocates provides independent advocacy and non-medical support. We do not diagnose, treat, administer medications, or replace licensed medical providers.

Do I have to be a senior to use Good Neighbor Senior Advocates?

No. Although senior advocacy is an important part of what we do, our services can support adults of different ages who need help navigating care, non-medical support, wellness visits, or someone trusted in their corner.

Can I hire Good Neighbor for myself?

Absolutely. You do not need a family member to contact us. We work directly with individuals who want help navigating care options, remaining independent at home, or having a trusted advocate in their corner.

Are you affiliated with or paid by any facility, nursing home, hospital, or care provider?

No. Good Neighbor Senior Advocates works independently for the individuals and families we serve. We are not affiliated with or paid by facilities or care providers, allowing us to provide unbiased information and advocacy based on your needs and preferences.

Do you provide home care services?

Good Neighbor Senior Advocates provides limited, non-medical in-home support such as companionship, light housekeeping, meal preparation, friendly check-ins, and certain everyday assistance. We are not a licensed home healthcare agency and do not provide skilled nursing or medical care. If your needs go beyond the non-medical support we offer, we can help you explore appropriate home care providers and options.

Can I use Good Neighbor Senior Advocates even if my loved one already has an aide, nurse, or home care agency?

Yes. Our advocacy and wellness visits can complement existing care. We provide an independent set of eyes and ears, document relevant observations, keep families informed, and advocate when concerns or questions arise.

I'm not sure what kind of help I need. Can I still contact you?

Absolutely. You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Start with a complimentary 15-minute introductory call, tell us a little about your situation, and we'll help determine whether Good Neighbor Senior Advocates may be the right fit for your needs.
